Bras & Booby Cake

Updated: Jun 13, 2022

It's now the 28th June and I am 2 days away from surgery! I've had my Covid swabs at the hospital, the boys have gone to my wonderful in-laws and me and Ryan have got some time to ourselves (we have to isolate from Covid swab to surgery day). Its literally what we've dreamed about (like most parents!) since the start of lockdown last year but its so strange with the kids not been in the house. I can sense they aren't here!

This week has been busy again but this time its been a good busy. I've eaten loads of scones from loads of different cafes 🐷 (should I do a scone blog?!) while catching up with different people which has been lovely. I've also been trying to make sure I've got everything I'll need for worst case scenario as we really don't know what state I'm going to come home in! So our bedroom has had a cute little makeover and is looking nice and relaxing and is set up for optimum box set bingeing (thanks Debs for lending us the TV 😘).

While clearing our bedroom and making it look all pretty I decided it would be a good idea to get rid of all my old bras because lets face it - my boobs aint going to be that big again! Which is a blessing because as much as celebs make big boobs look cool - they're NOT! I then had a brainwave that maybe my bras could be put to good use and after a quick google found there are a few ways you can recycle/donate bras:

  • Smalls for All - They're Scottish charity that send bras and donated underwear to those in need in Africa. All you need to do is send your bras in a jiffy bag to their address - details can be found at https://www.smallsforall.org/get-involved/donate/

  • Against Breast Cancer - A charity that recycles unwanted or unloved bras to raise money for breast cancer research or to donate to Africa where bras are too expensive to produce locally. To donate you can either post your bras to them or drop your bras off at a 'bra bank' which is a local collection box - details can be found at https://www.againstbreastcancer.org.uk/recycling/bra-recycling/

I went to my local Against Breast Cancer 'Bra Bank' which was in the My EcoBaby Shop in the Ridings for us Wakey folk - the boys loved filling the bin up, who'd have thought bras would be so exciting?! Deffo gonna save these photos for when they're older and bringing partners back!😎 It was also nice to get them involved in things as they don't really know what's going on - all we've told them is that mummy has a poorly booby so they have no idea of the significance of this.

On Saturday eve I went to a friends garden for a few drinks and I was told they had surprise for me... 👀

A BOOBY CAKE!!! My friends (Thanks Em & Harri) made me a booby cake and we had a few drinks sat on the decking which was lovely. The cake tasted lovely and I brought a boob home! My in-laws then got half a boob cake when we dropped the boys off yesterday haha.

I really do think been able to laugh during times like these really helps with coping and staying positive. I'm also really lucky that my weirdo friends have a the same warped sense of humour and knew exactly what would make me giggle! Again I would like to say thanks for everyone's kind words, support and help. Hearing that people are reading my blog is not only surprising (I babble a load of crap and and am a bit strange) but also encouraging and keeping me typing away and from sitting on TikTok for hours on end (well, not as long on TikTok 😬). I've also had a few people say that its got them checking their boobs and making sure they've got critical illness cover in place too so its nice to know my experience has actually done something!😇

Anyways - tomorrow is nipple injection day 😶💉so I will update on how that goes on my next blog post and then Wednesday is surgery day eeek!. I am not sure how I am going to be so there may be a week or so until the next post.

Im going to go stuff my face with the remainder of the afternoon tea we ordered to get us through - how gorg does this look 😍👇

No science and referencing this week guys I'm afraid! Just food and boob talk. Have a nice week!
